All but the 4 pounder that Ruark
caught was caught on a deep running crankbait. It is a custom bait made
locally that is just a replica type of one of the old Poe's lures. It runs
15-18 feet according to line size. 12 of the 14 fish were caught on this
lure. Ruark caught 1 fish on a Carolina rig and 1 fish on a Lucky Craft DD
20. He through every crankbait he had and every crankbait that I had to no
avail. I have never seen anything like it before. All of the fish were in
14-16 feet of water. They were so deep and so cold that it was like pulling up
tree stumps with a slight wiggle. They were very lethargic. This day was
definitely one for books, it is just too bad it wasn't during a tourney.
